Termite Control & Extermination

berk chester delaware montgomery county pennsylvania termite control

Every year, we spend $4.5 billion dollars controlling and repairing damage left by subterranean termites. We’ll help you protect your home before termites can damage it. Subterranean termites require special types of treatments because they nest in the ground, in crown colonies. These crown colonies infest structures from a distance, setting up satellite termite colonies around your home. Subterranean termites will also enter the home through expansion joints or cracks in the cement slab. Mud tubes are used as subterranean termite highways, and can be found in all locations of the home or building. Subterranean termites use these shelters for climate control and protection from the environment and predators. The majority of the time, the subterranean termites will be found in the bathroom and shower areas where high moisture content is readily available.

Termite Inspection

If you’re seeing termites or evidence of a termite presence, its time to call us for a free termite inspection. Its 10 times more likely that your home will be damaged by termites than by fires or floods! Termites infest 1 in 16 homes across Berks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties. Homeowner’s insurance does not normally cover termite damage, which is why its so important to catch the problem before it gets out of hand.

  • How long does treatment last? Most termite applications will be able to last 7-9 years based on the application site and ground conditions.

Termite Treatment Options

Depending on where the subterranean termites are found during our inspection, different treatment methods may be necessary. To kill subterranean termites, we use combination of structural and soil treatments. These treatments eliminate termites within the structure and form a protective barrier around the structure keeping them out.

  • Drill & Treat – Holes are drilled into the concrete slab around the structure and termiticides are injected into the foundation. The injection holes are then patched with concrete.
  • Trench & Treat – Trenches are dug along the perimeter of the structure and termiticides are poured into the trench. After treatment, the trenches are refilled with the original soil.
  • non-repellent Termiticides – Products like Termidor are applied to areas with live termite activity. Termidor contains slow acting, non-repellent chemicals which termites inadvertently spread throughout the colony like a virus.
  • Termite Bait Systems – In-ground termite baiting stations work similarly to Termidor, but are not applied to areas of termite activity. Bait stations use termite attractants and non-repellent termiticides to provide activity monitoring and protection year-round.
